Rob Machado, Miss Hawaii, Bob Pearson in Santa Cruz, they all use it. In the incidents in Santa Cruz, the only guys in the lineup that were attacked were the guys without it. It has been tested off the coast of South Africa, and sharks will not attack a chum pole that has the striped pattern. It is believed to neutralize the "prey reflex". As far as murky water conditons, a shark's eyesight is 10 times greater than a human's.
